- Please note that guidance on research is not provided to SKP graduate students.
- SKP students can select courses only from the course lists for each track/campus distributed to them at the start of the course registration period. Students will not be able to choose from among all of the courses for regular students offered in English.
- Minimum academic workload per semester: It is required by Japanese law that international students attend a minimum of 10 hours of classes per week, which means at least 7 sessions of RU classes per week (1 session = 90 minutes).
- : 100,000 yen per month.
- Living expenses will vary depending on each student's individual lifestyle, but a list of estimated expenses can be found on the following page at .
- Health Insurance: Students are required to join the National Health Insurance system while on the Study in Kansai Program. This insurance covers 70% of incurred medical fees. The annual premium is approximately 18,000 yen. To provide assistance with this payment, the Kyoto City International Foundation reimburses a portion of the National Health Insurance cost to international students living in Kyoto. More details regarding the National Health Insurance system and applicable rebates will be provided during orientation.
- It is required by Japanese law (Emigration and Immigration Management and Refugee Recognition Law) that international students attend a minimum of 10 hours of classes per week. Since one class session lasts for an hour and a half at Ritsumeikan University, you must take at least 7 sessions of classes per week* in order to satisfy this requirement. At Ritsumeikan University, credits are calculated on the basis that one semester is 15 weeks long. For Japanese language courses, each weekly class session is accorded 1 credit each per semester. Courses other than Japanese courses are generally 2 credits each per semester.
