8. Some GRADUATE SCHOOLS require permission from the prospective research supervisor BEFORE the application. Any courses related to graduation work (including graduation thesis) or laboratory work/experiments are not available.
9. We recommend exchange students to take 7 courses per semester (14 credits). The School of International Liberal Studies (SILS) has its own curriculum. Some exchange students take as many as 20 courses (40 credits). For CJL, minimum required credits students earn per semester is 13 for half-year program and 26 for one-year program. (Only credits of CJL courses and “日本語教育科目” courses offered at GEC are counted as the credits for the completion)
10. Once enrolled in Waseda University, the student is expected to complete the given exchange period. Extension or shortening of period is not permitted.
11. Estimated cost of Living: Differ depending on individual life styles, but the average monthly cost is ¥80,000 for housing, and ¥80,000 for living expenses (food, transportation and daily necessities).
12. In principle, students can only take courses from the School/Graduate School/Center they apply to. Therefore, students must carefully check the course list when choosing which School/Graduate School/Center to apply.
13. If a student has taken a leave of absence due to military service or other reason, please make sure the student explains this on a separate sheet stating that the students will return to school before the start of the exchange program and upload it together with the other documents.
14. JASSO scholarships are NOT granted to incoming students.

    • During the stay in Japan, all international students must register for the National Health Insurance which is called "Kokumin Kenkou Hoken" in Japanese at the city office they reside. If they are registered under this insurance, the insurance will cover 70% of their medical bills.
    • However, please note that certain medical treatments are not covered (e.g., medical checkups, cosmetic surgery, childbirth, and traffic accidents). If they intend to receive treatment from medical establishments that accept National Health Insurance, they will need to take their National Health Insurance Certificate with them. If they need further information or assistance, they will directly need to contact the person in charge at the ward or city office of their residence.

1. 經甄選錄取獲得本校推薦資格之交換生，須依照所錄取之語言要求（JLPT、IELTS或TOEFL iBT），來遞交交換學校之交換入學申請文件。例如：以JLPT語言條件取得交換資格者，須申請該校之一般交換學生計畫（意即以日語授課之課程）；以IELTS或TOEFL iBT語言條件取得交換資格者，須申請該校之英語課程交換學生計畫（通常是國際學部專門開設給国际学生的英語授課課程）。
2. 经甄选录取获得本校推荐资格之交换生，不得於取得该校入学许可后，要求变更已取得的入学许可条件；或者是交换申请被该校拒绝后，要求以另一种条件重新提出申请（包括但不限於：原先录取日文授课计画，改為英文授课计画）。如有以上情事者，将直接取消其录取资格，并受罚金及罚则约束。
3. 若該校提供兩種或以上不同語言的交換學生計畫，交換生名额是分開計算，不同語言條件之交換入學申請，亦由該校不同的委員會審查。
